Soap Plus was conceived and born in the Coromandel from Papatuanuku (Mother Earth).
Soap Plus started its humble beginnings in rural Coroglen, in the Coromandel where Lisa’s passion for the last few years has been making natural handmade soaps using quality oils blended with pure essential oils for a luxurious soap to leave your skin soft and beautifully conditioned.
She uses olive oil as the main base oil because it is rich in vitamin E and beta carotene. As well as being an antioxidant, it stimulates new cell generation, slows the progression of wrinkles, and gives skin a youthful look as well as being extremely mild and beneficial on a variety of skin conditions.
Having completed a course in Ronga Maori, Lisa wanted to incorporate her new knowledge into her soaps to benefit from their natural healing properties which is when her native range was born. One bar uses Kopakopa (plantain) and Kawakawa to create a moisturising vitamin enriched soap with anti-inflammatory properties to help on dry skin conditions.
Lisa was also inspired to try something a little bit different, and when she told some people about her plans to wrap the soap in merino and alpaca fleece, received a few puzzled looks. These days the Woolly Jumpers and Alpaca Coats are extremely popular with tourists who find it a novel idea and love taking them back to their homelands as gifts for friends and family.
